If you have to travel with your laptop constantly, to and from the same locations, you would also need to change your network settings each time, which can get frustrating quite fast. Argon Network Switcher gives you the possibility of switching between two or more network profiles with only a few clicks. Instead of disabling and enabling network connections, setting up different printers and so on, you can simply select a profile and click a button.

Argon Network Switcher is free and open source and you can use it on Windows 7 and XP. It can be installed quickly, without making any complex settings along the way. Also, the application doesn't have any special requirements and it doesn't use too many resources.

The software displays your network profiles on its user interface like on a standard explorer window. The profiles themselves are listed on the left side of the window and you can view and change their settings, on several tabs, in the larger area on the right. Options for creating profiles, viewing or deleting new ones can be found on a ribbon menu, where you can also find options for running a profile, enabling network cards and others.

Creating and saving a profile is not difficult, assuming you are familiar with the necessary configurations for connecting to a network and to the Internet. After naming a profile and selecting a network card, you can start making the usual network configurations, like specifying an IP and DNS, setting up a proxy, if you need to and so on. You can also create drive maps, choose a default printer, enable or disable specific services and network adapters.

As previously mentioned, you can simply select a profile and run it, instead of making all the network configurations each time you arrive at the office or home with your laptop. Alternatively, you can set the program to run your profiles automatically, when it detects one of the networks.

Pros

You can switch between different network settings on the fly. The software allows you to save as many network profiles as you want. You can install it in under a minute and you don't have to pay for it.

Cons

There are no obvious issues to mention. With Argon Network Switcher, changing network cards, IP addresses and other settings can be done with nothing more than a few clicks.
